When you sign someone like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to add to the likes of Cavani, Di Maria, Julian Draxler, Marco Verratti, Daniel Alves, Thiago Silva and the likes, you are certainly expected to be competing for the Champions league title. Hence it is not a surprise most football fans have PSG as their favorite or second favorite to win the UEFA Champions league this season.
Manager Unai Emery will surely know that the only way he will be allowed to remain at the club is if he wins the French league title and at least gets to the final of the UEFA champions league. And it is so far so good for the Unai Emery led PSG team. As of the time of writing this article, they have scored 17 goals in four matches and conceded not a single goal. And this is despite having to play Bayern Munich at home in one of the four matches they have so far played.
In the French league they have scored 39 times and conceded just eight times. They are yet to lose a single game so far this season. They currently seat top of the Championant table with 32 points. Four more than last season winners Monaco. Out of 12 games, they won ten and drew two. Monaco so far seems to be their main rival for the ligue one title but they look certain to win it unless they have a real dip in form as the season progresses.
The main focus for the owners of the club will however be the UEFA Champions league. The club will however have the likes of Barca, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and maybe Chelsea and Manchester United to contend with if they are to win the Champions league for the first time ever. Range of football bets favour PSG to win it. They most bookmakers favorites to win it. Manchester City is ranked second favourite by most bookmakers and rightly so.
Both City and PSG were the big spenders last summer and with Guardiola’s experience at City, one would expect the Citizens to go far. They are in fact my favorites for the Champions league this season ahead of PSG. Hopefully both teams can avoid each other till the final. It would be great to witness a final match between both teams. Chelsea is another team worth keeping an eye on. They are looking like they will be out of the running for the Premier league soon which will give them the opportunity to focus on the Champions league and considering the experience of their team and the Antonio Conte influence, the Blues have a good chance.
